Did you know ...

White gowns
In 1840 Queen Victoria started the custom of wearing an all white wedding gown.   A few years later Empress Eugenie, known to be extremely fashionable, wore a white gown when she married Napoleon III.  Up until that time the bride wore the best dress she owned, which was usually her black Sunday dress.  Today a white wedding gown has come to symbolise virginal purity.
