Brendon proposed on our two year anniversary at the top of the Sky Tower in Auckland, after a day full of excitement involving skiing at snow planet, wine on the viaduct and laughter, tears and happiness.

It took exactly 12 months to get married and we got married on our 3rd anniversary of being together.

Brendon and I planned the entire wedding ourselves - which made it all that more special. We designed and created our wedding invitations, I designed my dress and my mother inlaw Wendy Mills made it. My mother made my bridesmaid and flowergirl dressed. My mum, my sister Amy and I made individual gingerbread men as place cards for each guest. My sister Glenys Doake - also my bridesmaid - designed all the decorations for the reception hall - despite being 8 months pregnant. My aunty Karynne did all the makeup. Brendon and I also wrote our own amazing special vows, and the day was completely perfect.

We did not so much as have a wedding theme, we simply choose the colors and all the preparations took off from there. Once again - everything was perfect.

The ceremony was simply amazing from the moment we arrived at the end of the stoney aisle to the very second that the celebrant announced us as husband and wife. We chose music that was special to us - from this moment - by Shania Twain for the bridal party entrance, the words in this song are sooo moving and real to us both. I had both my mum and dad walk me down the aisle - this was extremely sentimental and a special moment. We wrote our own vows and every word was heartfelt and amazing. We also had candles that we lit to symbolise the joining of two lives and the new journey that we were beginning together. Wow - an amazing perfect ceremony!!!
The reception was special to us - as we had decorated the hall ourselves and it had that special personal touch. The ginger breadmen - were amazing!!!! The MC we had unfortunately had to take our flowergirl home sick - so we had a stand in MC at the last minuter - Ginger Bentely - he was simply amazing and he really made the reception time hilarious, one and only, special amazing time for all.

My dress was simply the most elegant beautiful dress in the entire world. I designed the dress after seeing several dresses that inspired me. My mother-in-law, Wendy Mills, made the dress - and it was better than i ever imagined. The dress I shall treasure always.
My attendents wore the most beautiful aqua blue dresses. My mother made them from a simple pattern and adapted them to a style that suited both the junior bridesmaid and my 8 month pregnant bridesmaid. They both looked stunning. My mum also made my flowergirls dress - wow stunning yet again. She was dressed in white - and looked like a little princess.

Our wedding car was special to us, we had a 1964 Chevy Impala - in the same color as the bridesmaids dresses. The car was leant to us by Ginger Bentely as a wedding present. We even had a special chaufer for the day driving the car for us.

The most romantic moment was looking into Brendons deep brown eyes when I reached the end of the stoney aisle - the love I saw and felt from the look in his eyes was something I will never forget. It was a look of endless love, happiness and wow you are my life and you look stunningly beautiful. Oh and of course the first kiss was super romantic.....

The funniest moment for me was when my mum and dad were walking me down the stoney aisle and they were both trying to not make me cry - and they kept cracking jokes to keep me calm - this was a very special time with my parents and I will cherish this.

I wore a white dress, and had blue on my garter. I also had a veil that my nana had bought for me prior to passing away - which was super special, and I borrowed my Mum's handkerchief.
Our vows included the traditional sayings of "for better for worse, in sickness and in health till death do us part".

My best decision were the bridesmaids that I chose - my sister Glenys is not only my sister but my best friend and I could not have done it without her by my side. Having both my parents walk my down the aisle was a super decision and a special time for the three of us.

The only thing that i would change would be that my flowergirl was well enough to be involved in the wedding - she was so unwell and simply was unable to be a part of the entire day - and by her being well we could also have had the MC that we initially had chosen - however Ginger was excellent.
The second thing would be that my sister Naomi and Robert would have been able to attend the wedding. Otherwise the day was perfect and nothing will change that.

We had the most amazing honeymoon in the world. The day after the wedding we flew to Sydney and spent 3 nights in a flash hotel - were we wined and dined each other. We then boarded a cruise ship and spent 9 luxurious nights crusing up to New Caledonia and this also included island stops - it was amazing. Then on return to Sydney we spent another 8 days touring around Syndey and its outskirts with my sister Naomi and her Husand Robert - who were unfortunately unable to attend the wedding - this was a super time.

Married life is wow - amazing!!!! It has and still is the best decision I ever made. I married my best friend, my soul mate, my lover and life partner - what more could a girl want??? Advice for other couples - make your wedding day about you and your partner and ensure that you enjoy every minute of the day and not only your wedding day but all the days to follow!!! Marriage is a wonderful thing- treat it well and you will be happy always!!! Keep the love and romance alive!!!!
