Toby and I wrote our own vows based on a variety of other vows we had read. We also added in a unique humours line each. For example, Toby said “I promise to try not to question how much money you have been spending on clothes” and I said “I will try to be tolerant of you when you insist on watching re-runs of Battle star Galactica and Star Gate every weekend.

My sister (and head brides maid) read I Corinthians 13.
My best friend Gabrielle read “Marriage Joins Two People In The Circle Of Its Love” By Edmund O'Neill.
My family friend (and mums best friend) Phillippa Ross, read “A Traditional Irish Blessing” by Saint Patrick.
Toby and I took dancing lessons at Footworks in Hamilton and learnt the Rumba. We did this dance to “Truly, Madly, Deeply” by Savage Garden which is our special song.

My Dad and I went to dancing lessons at Footworks and learnt the Fox Trot. We did our dance to “My Girl”.
Band for ceremony
We had a five piece Irish band play at our ceremony – called “Reelmen”. They also played in the garden area afterwards while everyone had Tapas and Champagne while the bridal party escaped for photos.
Our band for the reception was “Central Station” they played the father/daughter dance for us and got everyone up on the dance floor. They were excellent!

We created and designed our own wedding invitations, order of service cards, RSVP cards, and information cards. We went to the place where Toby proposed to me and my sister took a photo of us all dressed up nicely. We used this photo on our invitations and as a theme throughout our stationery. We bought our envelopes and wax seal stamp from Gordon Harris. In each invitation we had self addressed envelopes that I had and written on each one. I bought place cards from Gordon Harris.

We designed our own cake. It was made at Boutique cakes. It had Caramel mud cake on the bottom layer, Black Forest mud cake in the middle and fruit cake on the top layer. The icing was thick white chocolate and between each layer and on top of the cakes were roses made from white chocolate and dark chocolate.

Our theme was Classic/Traditional with a modern twist. As a sub-theme we incorporated Irish theme into it as it was St Paticks day. We had an Irish band play at reception and each table name was a name of an Irish city or an Irish icon (e.g. one of the table names was “Shamrock”).
Our colour theme was Bronze, Pink and White.
We went to Thailand (Bangkok, Chang Mai, and Phuket) for 14 nights.

We set up a honeymoon registry at Fine Travel and a gift registry at Freedom.
My bridesmaids organised a bridal shower for me for my closet friends. We all went out for lunch at Lilly Pad near Cambridge, and had a cocktail party later that night with various games and activities. It was very special.

My bridesmaids organised a hens night for me out on the town where I had do a number of dares before I could go home. All the girls (about 40) dressed up as devils and I was dressed as an Angel – again, a very awesome night.
The boys went paint-ball shooting, played 18 holes of pitch and putt, played a game of soccer on the hill until the sun went down, had a BBQ at our place, and then partied into town later. Toby was dressed in a lovely pink dress and blonde wig!

We had 126 people at our wedding. We invited 128 and 126 came – it was fantastic. Two of my friends from England made a special trip over especially to see my big day.
$40,000 spent about $40,000 - $50,000.

Relax and make the most of your day. Don’t worry about what other people might think about your flowers, dress, music, rings, food, favours etc etc etc – its your day and you do whatever what you want!
