Having spent a couple of days sick in bed, Christina wasn't at all keen to go out to dinner for her 30th birthday

But Wattie and Tamati weren't taking 'no' for an answer!

"It took a wee bit of coercing to get me there" explains Christina.

Wattie had arranged a surprise party with 20 friends and family (including Christina's parents and her sister Sam from Sydney) to join them at the restaurant.

But the biggest surprise came after dinner - Wattie bent down on one knee and proposed. "It blew me away!" smiles Christina.

Christina and Wattie started to plan a perfect day with an emphasis on family and friends - some from as far away as Queenstown and Los Angeles.

Wattie's son, Tamati, was a special part of the ceremony.

"We included a vow expressing my love for him, welcoming him into my life and asking that he welcome me into his," explains Christina.

"I also  presented him with a gift of greenstone so that he would always remember our special day".

Other highlights included entertainment provided by Christina's dad and sister, a Maori welcome and blessing of the food, lovely speeches made by special friends and family, catching up with people and lots of dancing, singing and fun conversations.

Christina chose a cream chiffon and lace gown and her bridesmaids wore pale silvery-green two-piece satin outfits. All carried hand-tied posies of brightly coloured gerberas.

The men wore black Kahn suits with black and silver vests.

The reception provided their most romantic moment. "The sun had only just gone down and we had candles lit everywhere. As we walked in my dad played some beautiful music - nothing could have been more romantic!" explains Christina.

How's married life so far? "Well, I've been married nearly three months and I'm nearly three months pregnant!!!" laughs Christina. "Nothing could be more perfect!"
