I won't be getting one.
There is no way we will be able to afford diamonds when our first baby arrives / 1st anniversary rolls around (which will probably be within days of each other!!!)

I have little fingers so I wouldn't be able to fit another ring on there anyway, would have to go on the other hand. But I have a sentimental ring that I wear on my right hand anyway, so not too worried Smiley

I don't know if I will ever get one... I too am a bit uncomfortable with how much my e-ring cost and the type of wedding ring I like isn't cheap either!

I do however have a plan to one day buy myself a right-hand ring with a bit of bling on it... maybe for my 30th or something. Luckily that's still a few years away!

One of my friends is engaged and plans to add an eternity and maternity ring to her finger... my fingers are way too short for that, hehe Cheesy

Jeepers - eternity ring and maternity ring - lucky! I thought it was one or the other.

I actually won't mind a nice pair of diamond earrings instead of a ring, but I think I'm dreaming , haha!

I don't think I will - I adore my engagement ring so much that I purposely chose an extremely plain wedding ring, for simple dramatic effect. Although if DH bought me one I don't think I'd complain too much...he's, um, aware that I'd love some simple diamond earrings though.

Orangerolls, that made me laugh - DH always talks about the de Beers advertising campaign too!

MrsREMK, totally agree with you. I wear very little jewellery as I like my engagement and wedding rings to really stand out rather than loading my fingers down with rings. So I too would rather upgrade my existing rings than get new ones. I'm not sure if it would be possible to remodel my engagement ring though. What are you doing to yours?

MIL recently got a very wide, blingy ring and has added it to her wedding and engagement rings - to me, it looks like too much on her finger as it is a very wide ring. It might be ok if it was a slender one.

As others have said, I wouldn't say no to a pair of diamond earrings  Wink

I have a single 0.7 carat diamond, and I want to get a 1.5 central diamond with another 0.7 carat on the other side... given it's a Tiffany ring I'm hoping I don't have to get it done at Tiffany as that will seriously drive the price up.

"De Beers sent representatives to high schools across the country to teach young girls about the value of diamonds and feed them romantic dreams. Word was spread by diamonds worn by Hollywood stars, British Royalty and wives and daughters of political leaders and celebrities, by women who could make the common man's wife or girlfriend say 'I wish I had what she has'. Love began to be measured in carats.

In the 1960's diamonds were discovered in Siberia and De Beers saw its control-supply chain monopoly being threatened. It closed a secret deal with the Soviets to market these small stones and the marketing campaign for 'eternity anniversary rings' was launched, targeting an entirely new market of older married women." - from "Diamond Marketing by De Beers: The Biggest Fraud on Womankind"

Nope!

But that is because I don't want one.   Tongue

Not that I don't love bling, but as it was I was only going to have 1 band and not both an E and wedder.

I wear minimal jewellery and quite like just having my 2 rings.

I would rather get another tattoo instead  Tongue  or diamond earrings Wink

Don't think I'll get one...I have little fingers too so think it would look overcrowded! After reading this thread earlier today, I was out shopping and just happened to look at diamond earings/necklaces  Cheesy I think if I was to do something like that, it would be a necklace. I tend to wear the same necklace all the time so a simple diamond pendant would be lovely! I wear very simple/plain earings so not sure how much use I'd get out of diamond ones  Smiley

Oh don't get me wrong...I wouldn't say no to diamond studs! I'm just very bad at looking after earings and I tend to wear the same ones for months before changing them. I had a diamond pair once and it only took me about 4 months to lose one  Shocked

I'm the same with earrings KMJH!

FH bought me a pair of diamond earrings once and I lost one while we were on holiday Sad

He also bought be pair of the most beautiful Tiffany earrings but I lost one of those too. I still have the lone earring and hope to pair it up again one day.

When I lost the diamond earring, I didn't tell him right away as I thought it was just in the bottom of my suitcase (we were overseas) then when we got home, I never found it.

One day, he was onto me, and he asked where they were and I freaked out, went to my jewelry box and pulled out a pair of CZ earrings.

Sadly, my fib failed miserably: If the CZ's were diamonds, they would be around 3 carats each! He has never stopped teasing me about it Cheesy

Suffice to say, I probably won't ask for diamond earrings again!

I lost the first piece of jewellery DH ever gave me this year - it was a bracelet and I had been wearing it ever since (so for about 9 years). I lost it in the sea while boogie-boarding, it must have broken. However, he just gave me a replica (updated version he called it!) for our 1st wedding anniversary, so that was pretty cool Smiley I also never lose things so makes me mad when I do.
