Music options on the day!
Sep 23rd, 2008, 12:30pm

There seems to be so many different types of songs/timing of songs that you can choose..

Options 2 and 3 - I am interested to see how many of you (if any) are having a separate processional song for the Bride...

Vote away Smiley (polls are fun)

This is the stuff we're choosing:
• A processional song for the BMs (instrumental)
• A separate processional song for me (its a long aisle and I have 4 BMs!)
• 2x signing the register songs in case it takes a while
• A recessional song
• A song while the bridal party enter the reception
• A first dance song
• A cutting the cake song
• A last dance song

This is what we're leaving for the DJ to choose (in consultation with us - we'll just give him a general mood we'd like to maintain):
• Pre-ceremony music
• Music for guests while they have canapes/drinks while we have photos
• Dinner music
• General dance music

Yup, we're doing all of them!

Not sure what the different songs will be for BMs and then me, we have a super long aisle and I also have 4 BMs!!! Eeek  Shocked I've chosen my song (Forrest Gump theme), but no idea about the girls!

If you have a different song going down the aisle for the bride does that mean you have to find a very short song for the BM's walk down the aisle? I can't imagine that it would sound very good if you just cut the first song short to play the brides song.

I've been researching wedding songs on the net and I found a list of funny last songs. I thought most hilarious (and so wrong) song on the list was to play "Who let the dogs out" when your guests are leaving the reception. Yes, that was actually a suggestion!

No way! WOW I laughed hard at that!!!!!

I think that you (with the help of someone in the know) can 'cut' the song down to a length that is appropriate for you.  Of course if you have 2 BMs and a 3m aisle you'd barely get through three lines of the song, so i guess it's about what suits your wedding.

i am undecided.....

(p.s. i love this forum! you girls are amazing)

We've played around with fading out of the BM's song and into mine and it sounds great.  But I guess thats because you hear just over 2 minutes of their song anyway.  Plus I'm not starting to walk until they are completely in place so you hear a fair bit of my song too and then we'll just fade out slowly once I've kissed dad and he's "handed me over".

Who let the dogs out?!?!  That is soooo funny.  I hope none of the guests took it personally  Grin

We'll just figure out some kind of fade for my song as well.

Oh dear Buda, I seriously hope they didn't actually play it!

we are having pre-processional  music, and fh has a song he wants, before my aisle song, then two register songs, a recessional song, a first dance song, and somehow we will need to incorporate every rose has its thorn into the day, not the most appropriate but its like our song

Will probably have some soft background music playing before I arrive. Something garden-y lol. Then hopefully just one song for BMs and me, but will have to check it out if it is long enough. One song for signing of register, and another for leaving.
Definitely having a first dance song, but probably not a father daughter dance. we'll see

Dad asked if we had to do a father daughter dance.  He looked terrified, he is soooo not a dancer.  I told him I'd let him off the hook if he promised to dance "unofficially" with me later in the night when all eyes weren't on him.

I love some of the father daughter dances on youtube though.  Is anyone doing an official one?  It just doensn't seem as common here as it is in the States.

FSIL did one ... it was kinda sweet, even though he's not into public dancing either! They danced to Daddy's Little Girl, by someone or other (I can't remember the name of the artist sorry), but it's a very sweet song and it's about a girl getting married and all that.

BTW Faffer ... nice work! Dragging down the other post!!! Wink

Whew, it took me forever to get to this post through all the other bumped up threads - I couldn't work out what was going on  Cheesy

I'm not sure yet about pre-ceremony music but I think I'll only have one song for me and my BMs (I only have two). Then a signing the registry and a recessional, a first dance.   Not sure about father/daughter dance, we will do one and we'll practice to a particular song but it's not going to be "now it's the father daughter dance"

We're not having a cutting the cake song, and probably won't have an entrance song.

Holy! So many songs to choose, we have selected like 4! The only traditional song will be the one where me and the BMs walk down the isle, the rest will be songs we like, mainly U2 ect. I just want there to be some good beats for dancing later on. We will get a dj as I'm too scared to hire a band in case they are crap, might be different if we knew anyone who was in a band though. We definately won't be having who let the dogs out though - not if we want to stay together at least  Grin
