Surprise at Wedding show Auckland
Apr 13th, 2008, 2:57pm

Today's show is rather disappointing, not much shops...

but there are still some surprises....

1. The wharf, is a perfect location for wedding venue
2. Always Alexis Marie, a stunning photographer, make the wedding photo to magazine picture.

any other surprise you found in the show today?

I was surprised by the visible nipples during the fasion show!!!

Did find it a bit small but worth while going to for orlando florist display alone - so excited freesias are availible in march!

We really enjoyed it. I found that mow I am abit further along in the planning, it seemed alot more relevant and I was able to take advantage of the show specials.

Wasnt Richard an awesome MC? I thought he was really impressive  Smiley

I am personally angry that it cost $15 to get in.  There were half the number of stalls there than the one I went to last year (in Sept).

We went early to beat the crowd - was there by 9.30 and half the stalls still seemed to be setting up.

And it only seemed to be the high end retailers - everything on offer seemed crazy expensive (and I have a pretty big budget so that is saying something).

I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

Thank you SOOOOOO much! I flew up to Auckland after just 3 hours sleep following a wedding in Wellington and really had to hit the floor without any preparation or rehearsal.

Wasn't it a great show though? The wedding gowns were stunning, the timing and choreography were spot on, the catwalk was decorated beautifully and the models were lovely (and very friendly). I thought that the entire show was well run, well attended and had a good feel to it.

Completly disagree.

For $15 there were not enough vendors there.  And the grooms zone was a joke.

I think the Wedding Show at Aotea Centre (if that's the one we're all talking about) absolutely SUCKED!!!!  What a grand waste of $15.00.  To make matters worse, I dragged poor FH along so it cost $30.00.  Why the hell do they charge anyone at all to attend anyway since they're already charging the stall holders through the nose for a stall.  I arrived at 1pm.  On their website they advertised loads of free goodies including champaign, donuts and chocolates but no one pointed us in the direction of the champaign.  We saw plenty of people walking around with glasses but felt abit strange bowling up to someone and asking 'where's the free champers'.  Definitely high end vendors, and yes, groomzone was a joke.  I want a refund too.  This has left a sour taste in my mouth and I don't think I'll bother going to the Auckland Bridal Show next weekend.  This show simply confirmed that we've been wise to do our research, and get a little creative on saving money otherwise you can get SERIOUSLY fleeced!

ms arri - dont let this show speak for all the others.  I went to the premier wedding expo last year (sept) and it was good - this is the one coming up at the end of the month.

And I have heard good things about the bride and groom show that is on the 4th may.

I think this one was bad because it is new and the vendors were not there.  I would try the other ones.

I took my DF and Mum so it cost $45 - I think that worked out to be a $1 a minute that we were there.

I'm sorry to hear this new show isn't any good. Please don't let this dissuade you from going to either the Premier Expo at Greenlane or the Bride and Groom Show at Ellerslie. I went to each of these on more than one occassion in the lead up to our wedding and found them very useful, and worth the money to get in. Both shows also have lots of great competitions to enter as well.

I thought the flowers at orlando were not that nice - and they seemed to be wilting already (at 9.30 in the morning!)  I imagine they were made the day before but for the prices I thought it would be nicer.  Just me though.

Unfortunately I did not think the Aotea Centre show was all that good, the signage pointing to the downstairs bit was not clear or big enough & I very nearly missed that section (thought it meant it was an exhibitors lounge for them to store stuff!). Advertised free coffee on website (was looking forward to that at 9am) but only had a coffee cart charging for coffee. Didn't see the widely publicised groomzone... was that where we walked in?    However it was their first show & sure they'll learn from their mistakes. Went to the greenlane show last year & that was good, I would still suggest going to the other ones if you need ideas, especially the main one which I think is the ellerslie one?   Main reason I went to Aotea one was they paid for the parking & *advertised*  free coffee. Out of 10 would give it a 4.5! Mc was fine & fashion show ran well. Hope it's more organised next year!

I went along to this show with a friend and was disappointed to be honest, and may have enjoyed myself if someone had turned that guys mike off...I found him annoying!
