I don’t know if it was me that jinxed the wedding day by commenting how everything was going so perfectly, or if it was the groomsman who pre-wrote in his speech that the day had gone off without a hitch assuming that it would, either way neither of us should have said it …

But the day had been going perfectly – I was just so excited. I had planned our wedding, using practically every spare minute of everyday, for the past year, and I had loved every minute of the process so far. On the day the flowers looked gorgeous, the hair & make-up ladies had made all us girls look fabulous, everything was going exactly to plan. On the way to the ceremony my emotions were starting to hit, but it was more excitement mixed with just a little bit of nerves. That was until we pulled into the drive of the venue in my beautiful white rolls Royce to see an ambulance parked in the drive.

The first thing the wedding manager at the venue said to me was don’t worry, they’re alright, but the guys have rolled one of the Ferraris’!!! I found out later that not only had they crashed a $250,000.00 Ferrari, but they did so in spectacular fashion, leaving it to rest on its roof. The irony of it was that the one thing my then fiancé and his groomsmen had looked forward to the most about the wedding (other than marrying me of course) was getting to arrive in Ferraris’; the Ferrari’s that very nearly ruined our entire day.

The groomsman who was in the Ferrari when it crashed fortunately escaped serious injury, but did have a concussion. Even so, he refused to listen to the ambulance drivers who tried to take him to hospital as he wasn’t missing our big day.

The show had to go on, and even though we were all a bit shaken we managed to make it down the aisle and say I do. Auspiciously the remainder of the day did go off without a hitch. We didn’t little the one incident (massive as it was) ruin our day and everyone had an absolute blast. We are just so thankful that things didn’t turn out as bad as they very nearly could have been and so thankful that all our close friends were there to share the entire day with us. It is certainly a day we will not forget for more reasons than one. Thanks guys for being such awesome attendants, we could not have got through such an emotion filled day without you all!!!
