Kariotahi beach was the beautiful setting for the proposal. It was perfect - a beautiful sunny day, a romantic 3 course picnic on the beach, when he reaches into his bag for something else- and pulls out a ring! I have never been more excited. So then the plans started...

The whole day was magic, right from when I got up in the morning with my bridesmaids and started getting ready. We had so many laughs, it was great fun!

We got married at St Patrick's catholic church in Pukekohe where we both grew up. All our friends and family joined us in a very special service. I walked up the aisle to Brooke Fraser, Without You, led by my 4 best friends, and Richie's nephew (5yrs old), as our ring bearer. Other music that we chose to help celebrate our big day was Joshua Kadison, Beautiful in my eyes (played on piano), and we walked out to Jack Johnson, Better Together.

The theme for our day was paua - I made our invitations with paua paper, the bridesmaids had paua earrings to match their beautiful peacock coloured dresses, and all the tables at the reception were scattered with paua pieces. We had clutch bouquets of white lillies, which were also on the tables in tall vases. We had little wrapped fudges as favours for our guests, and they had little name tags wrapped around their serviettes. The main table had a big back drop behind it for decoration.

Our reception was beautiful. We had a great meal and fabulous speeches. Then more of our family and friends came to join us for the dance. It was a great night! We all had a brilliant time dancing the night away. Our first dance was to Dave Dobbyn, Beside You (we love that song!).

We have such awesome memories of our day. We hope it is a sign of times to come!
