The morning in the bride’s perspective. Waking up with butterflies in my stomach I had a sense of excitement that I am to marry the man of my dreams.
The dark eye cover blocked out the smile on my husband to be face, as he kissed me goodbye, whispered that he loved me and that he would kill me if I didn‘t show up. I heard the girls as they sprung up the stairs to our room and jumped on me in bed, bubbling that they were too excited to wait any longer. Finally taking off my eye mask I was happy to see the sun streaming through the windows. The massage was wonderful followed by a relaxing luxurious shower. We all left for the hairdressers where I was greeted by my consultant and friend of eight years. Looking back in the mirror I didn’t recognize myself as the stream of curls fell over my face. I felt like a princess.
I took too long getting my hair sorted and Glenn and the boys arrived at the hairdressers to get his hair done, luckily he didn’t see me and we had to quickly put in my veil and get out of there.
Throughout the rushing I realized that what made this day the most special for me, was that everyone closest to us, helped us to make everything so perfect and beautiful. For example the photographer was our flat mate and good friend Sara, who has an incredible talent as you can see. All of our friends helped us to dress the venues, right down to the smallest details like pedaling the aisle and pond at the park.
Although I was running late to get ready we arrived at Yatton Park right on time, which shocked a few late guests that hadn’t been seated. I was surprisingly calm, unlike my four bridesmaids who where shaking with anticipation. I was just happy to be there and see Glenn. The walk up the gorgeous outdoor aisle was fast and I when I reached him our eyes locked and I whispered “You look hot”.
During the ceremony there were a few moments of extreme emotion, when we read the vows that we had written ourselves, when my sister and friends performed special readings and also during the releasing of the butterflies.
The guests enjoyed the tantalizing food prepared by my sister’s partner Nigel, the great chef, and drank booze in the sun at the beautiful reception venue, while the wedding party was off all over Tauranga getting photos taken. These settings included the park, beach and a railway track where it was easy and fun to do the photos, as we are a very close group.
We were keen to get back to the reception to party as soon as possible. The dinner and speeches both turned out to be incredible and amazing, which I claimed were the two words I couldn’t stop saying that day. This night was the best of our lives, dancing, limboing and great friends who pitched in to waitress, DJ and put on a fabulous fireworks display. And who could forget I have the best husband in the world. I could honestly not have imagined this day going better, and I was happily surprised that our wedding was more than I ever hoped for. Who could ask for better friends to spend our special day with. We wouldn’t change a thing.
