I got engaged in Hanmer outside a quaint little café, it was fantastic. In fact the day I laid eyes on Glenn, I knew he was the one.

Over the next 18 months, we planned for the big day. I found my dress almost straight away, it was a fitted bodice, a soft heart shaped neckline with embossed flowers with pearls in the centre. It was strapless with a half metre train.

The big day finally arrived after lots of planning. I was lucky to not only have my sister and best friend as my bridesmaids but also some really close friends who were in charge of the tables. I had made my own chocolate truffles with a little wedding saying in each hand maid box. The tables were simple but classy. Each table had a fish bowl vase in the centre of the table containing the roses the same as my bouquet. Tealight candles added atmosphere to the room, it looked spectacular.

The morning arrived and from 7:30am we were so excited, the nerves had taken over. 8am we arrived at the hairdresser to get our hair and makeup done. We left there 3 hours later, went home and had a beautiful finger food lunch which mum had been preparing while we were away. The day was absolutely perfect - not much wind and the sky had not a cloud in it.

Meanwhile the boys on another side of town were go cart racing and burning off their nerves having heaps of fun!!!

After lunch we decided to get ready, and before we knew it the photographer was at home ready to take some photos. It was strange being in front of the camera although we soon got used to it, as this was only the start of the day.

At 2:30pm we headed off, the girls went with my good friend and dad and I went with my Uncle, as we pulled into the Chateau on the Park in Christchurch we were greeted by the staff who were very friendly and kind. The feeling was unexplainable as we got nearer the Gazebo garden where the ceremony was taking place. As we got into position the music started (Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol). I couldn’t wait to see the look on Glenn’s face as he saw me and my dress on.

Tears were in his eyes and mine as the excitement became too much. Although we were lucky enough to have nearly all our grandmothers there I still wish my grandfathers could also see me marrying the man of my dreams.

Well the ceremony was great even though most of it was a blurr!!

But the day had only just begun. First we had family photos in the rose garden then the bridesmaids, groomsmen and Glenn and I made our way over the road to Christchurch Girls’ High School where we had the rest of our photos taken. They were so much fun, we had nibbles and drinks to celebrate while our guests partied by the poolside.

We then came back, freshened up, and entered the Camelot room with huge applause. Speeches came next, where a few laughs were had and then the most amazing 3 course menu, where the guests had a choice of two options on each course. The staff were attentive and the band keep us dancing until midnight .

Such a long day seemed so short. It was the most amazing day of our lives so far, and if this is the start we can not wait to see what is to come. Our day would not have been possible with our the help of our parents and close friends to make it the special day it was.
